HOUSE MANUAL

KEYS
There will be 2 sets of front door keys for guests in the house. If I'm unavailable to greet you I will leave a set of front door keys in the key safe and text you the code before arrival.
There is also a larger set of keys which are for the basement level - two gold keys for the two metal gates and two silver keys for the basement front door. Finally there is a smaller key for the back/garden door and there will also be a duplicate of this left in the garden door itself for easy access.

Please keep both the metal security gates and the garden back door locked when you go out out or when you go to bed at night, for safety.

In the event of losing both sets (unlikely, I hope!) I keep a set with a neighbour.

HOT WATER/HEATING
There is a thermostat which controls central heating/radiators located on the wall in the hallway by the bathroom.
The hot water supply in the house is constant so will be on at all times.
PLEASE do not adjust heating or hot water via the kitchen boiler. Please only adjust heating via the thermostat in the upstairs hallway. It is quite simple to operate /change but there are instructions in the box in the hallway.

TV/DVD/NETFLIX
To use any of these, first switch on the power for each appliance on the six-way plug adaptor which is behind the TV.
On this six way adaptor there are separate plug switches for the TV, the Freeview Box, the DVD machine and the little black Amazon Firestick
(for Netflix)

For main TV (which is basic freeview TV with UK channels/Film 4 and limited digital channels) first use the long, black remote control to switch the main TV on, using the red button.
Then use the SOURCE button on the big black remote control to switch to Firestick or HDMI (use the small fire stick remote to change channels.
Also use the long, black remote for the TV's volume or to switch the TV on/off.

DVD
Just switch the DVD player on via the main 'on' button and use remote.

AMAZON FIRESTICK/NETFLIX

Use this small black remote to switch on Netflix/ Amazon/BBC I-Player and other providers and navigate the menu. It also responds to voice commands when searching for films/programmes.

When going out/going to bed please switch off all devices at source
(the plugs on the adaptor) It saves energy and is safer that these flatscreen TVs are not left on standby.

RUBBISH/RECYCLING
Rubbish is collected on the street outside the house on alternative Tuesday mornings. Ask owner to check if it's 'your' Tuesday. Or check on Camden Council website under Recycling.
Otherwise the rubbish can stay in the black bin until the following week.
Recycling is collected EVERY Tuesday morning.
Please use black bin bags (located in drawer next to fridge/freezer) for rubbish and place in black plastic bin outside.
On Monday nights or early Tues morn (before 7am) please put any full rubbish bags in black bin and green recycling box on street outside house for collection (if you can remember, of course!)

OVEN/COOKER
The hob has five gas rings controlled by the five knobs on the front right
The main oven and top oven are electric. The main fan oven is controlled by the far left switch and the smaller top oven and grill is controlled by the second and third knob from the left.

WASHING MACHINE
Switch machine ON. Put powder/liquid in drawer or into machine itself.
Choose either 60 or 30 fast washes. Shut door and press START.

For Dryer - Load clothes. Shut the door. Switch machine ON. Press TIMED and keep pressing TIMED several times until you get the hours/minutes you require for drying clothes. Then press START.
Example - for wet towels/jeans you will need at least 1 hr/1.30hrs.
For a shirt or T shirt 30 mins is probably enough.

DISHWASHER
Open dishwasher . Load dishwasher tablet and click the slot shut.
Press ON (top left of dishwasher door) then press 'P' until you get the programme you need. I find P5 is best (quickest) but choose P6 or P7 for really dirty plates!
Then press the '>' symbol and then just close door shut to start the programme.
