Situated right in the borderland countryside between England and Wales, in the village of Pandy, is a former culinary school, Rose Cottage. With a fantastic kitchen and facilities, plenty of off-road parking, a nicely presented and elegant décor, it is perfect for a family break with older children, or for a group of friends. Upon entering the property, a bright and airy hallway welcomes you, with a utility and storage area to the left where you can leave your coats and shoes. Ahead is the kitchen with plenty of room for everyone to cook together. The dining room with its large table for 8 is perfect for all meals. Completing the ground floor is the sitting room which faces west and captures the setting sun over the mountains. Upstairs are five en-suite bedrooms with fabulous views. Rose Cottage is a gateway to the Black Mountains and to the wide open countryside of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons National Park). It is also ideally situated for walkers on the Offa’s Dyke National Trail, up the border from Chepstow to North Wales. Rose Cottage is midway between Monmouth and Hay-on-Wye. The location also gives direct access to the Beacons Way, another long distance footpath going west across the Brecon Beacons National Park. The nearby town of Abergavenny is famous for its Food Festival, its markets and for its range of independent shops. A beautiful drive through valleys, past historic churches, takes you on to Hay-on-Wye, renowned for its world famous Book Festival. The most direct way back is through the Gospel Pass via Capel-y-ffin and Llanthony. Visit Llanthony Priory, either by foot along the Offa's Dyke path, or by car veering off to visit the crooked church of St Martin's at Cwmyoy. Llanthony Priory is where the owners' family live and farm the land surrounding the ancient Priory. You can even savour the beer in the Crypt Bar in the tiny hotel amongst the 12th century Llanthony Priory ruins. Close to Rose Cottage is the Black Mountains Cycle Centre offering excellent off-road mountain biking opportunities. Popular road cycle routes also run through the National Park. A good selection of restaurants and eateries can be found in the towns of Monmouth, Ross and Abergavenny. The Walnut Tree near Abergavenny and The Whitebrook in the Wye Valley both have Michelin stars. The Skirrid Mountain Inn just half a mile away is the oldest pub in Wales. Outside Rose Cottage there is the bus to Hereford or Abergavenny, giving you even more options for activities and attractions. Rose Cottage offers an interesting and relaxing stay in a very charming area.
