Take An Adventure Aboard Your Very Own Victorian Railway Carriage, Melton Constable

Norfolk. Sleeps up to 2

Step back in time to the golden age of steam, dust off your carpet bag, pack an Agatha Christie or two, and let your imagination run wild as you take an adventure aboard your very own Victorian railway carriage. Although fully authentic in nearly every way, this railway carriage now has electric, not gas lighting, and all the creature comforts you will need - just make sure you take your seat in good time before the guard blows his whistle!

Set in a large south facing paddock backed by woodland, this sympathetically restored carriage and adjoining guard's van offers a very unique holiday experience. If you are of a romantic disposition, or a railway buff who mourns the loss of the country railways to Dr Beeching and his axe, this is the ideal holiday destination for you. Converted into comfortable accommodation, you may well imagine you are steaming along. Just sit back, relax and let time stand very still and enjoy the blissful peace of this scenic rural location. A warm and cosy spot for two, the carriage has original flooring and brass fittings, a late Victorian walnut double bed and Tiffany style lamps. A compact fitted kitchen sits at the front end of the carriage, and the bedroom and en-suite shower room are reached at the far end in the guard's van, with the living space running in between.

This is a lovely area for both cycling and walking, with or without your dog. A public footpath runs adjacent to the paddock, parts of which follow the old railway line. The beautiful beaches, marshes and villages that are dotted along the North Norfolk coastline are a mere twenty minute drive away. The Signal Box, which resides nearby, and sleeps two guests, can also be booked if your friends wish to come along as well. The owners are very happy if you would like to bring your horse, which can be kept in the large paddock that surrounds The Railway Carriage (please see Additional Information).
