Sheringham itself is a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike. It has award winning blue flag beaches, a brand-new leisure centre with a pool open to the public, woodland and cliff top walks and a cliff top golf course. It boasts a great mix of high street and boutique shops, as well as lots of cafés, restaurants, bistros and inns. In fact, you could head out on foot to eat every evening and find something new to delight you, whatever your tastes or budget. The wide sandy beach will tempt you too, whether you are sunbathing in summer or enjoying a bracing walk off season. The town itself plays host to lots of entertaining events throughout the year, including a 1940’s weekend, the Viking Festival and its summer carnival.
Here you will also find Sheringham Park, which offers 1000 acres of varying habitat including woodland, parkland and cliff top. In addition, you can take a steam train journey along the coast. It also has a mainline train station which will take you to nearby Cromer with its many seaside attractions. You can also visit Wroxham, which is considered by many to be the gateway to the Norfolk Broads, and on to the medieval city of Norwich, which is well worth a visit. All of these are within easy reach by car too, as are a plethora of coastal habitats such as salt and clay marshes, rolling sand dunes, picturesque quays and sand and shingle beaches.
Add in attractions such as Cromer Pier, Amazonia Zoo, BeWILDerwood, the Thursford and Muckleburgh Collections, Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, RSPB Clay Marshes, the Felbrigg, Blickling, Holkham, Houghton and Sandringham Estates, East Ruston Old Vicarage Garden plus a host of other great things to see and do, and you are sure to be back just to fit everything in. And what better place to return to than beautiful Stones Throw Cottage? Pubs, shops and restaurants within 300 yards.
