Located in the popular village of Askrigg crammed full of character, Burn Cottage, is a delightful hideaway perfectly placed for up to four guests to enjoy the pubs, shops and tearoom all within walking distance in this thriving village deep in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Built in the 1800's, this cottage is tucked away at the top of the village offering an ideal base all year round for walking and sightseeing. Whether you wish to leave the car and take the dales bus through Wensleydale, stopping off at Hawes or explore further afield and head out for the day to many of the attractions North Yorkshire has to offer, Malham Cove being one of our favourites. From the moment you step through the main entrance Burn Cottage offers a home from home feel, comfort and relaxation, retaining much of it's original charm such as beamed ceilings and cosy fireplace with multi fuel stove, perfect after a busy day with family or friends. The welcoming sitting room leads through to a delightful, spacious farmhouse kitchen and dining room, complement further still with a ground floor shower room and separate WC. Take the stairs from the kitchen when it's time to retire for the night and you shall find a light and airy Master bedroom overlooking the front of the cottage, pretty bedroom second bedroom with views of the countryside to the rear and family bathroom, a great place to relax in peace.
To the rear of the cottage is a small courtyard area with a bistro table and two chairs awaiting you for morning coffee or a glass of wine on a balmy summers evening. You are never far away from homemade Yorkshire 'pub grub' for all the family with neighbouring villages such as Aysgarth, Bainbridge or Leyburn all having plenty of eateries to choose from or just pop down the road to The Crown. Burn Cottage really is the hub for a well-deserved break in the Yorkshire Dales, with walks and cycle routes for all levels of experience right from your doorstep. Head over the hill to Muker and discover Swaledale or wander down to Askrigg Bottoms meadows in the middle of June, a site of Special Scientific Interest and perfect for stretching you legs before a bit to eat at the local tearoom, The Bake-Well.
