Apartment Two, The Carriage House, York 6m, Village Location, York

North Yorkshire. Sleeps up to 6

Summary:
The apartment is within a stunning converted barn in the beautiful North Yorkshire village of Bilbrough. Recently renovated with two new bathrooms (en-suite to main bedroom), new kitchen, new furnishings and new carpets throughout. Plenty of walks in open countryside to be enjoyed. Six miles into central York, 10 mins by car from the Designer Outlet village and 6 mins from the Park & Ride for York. Easy access to A64/A1/M1.

The Space:
200 year old barn - originally a Carriage House, set in beautiful open countryside yet only two minutes from the A64 and six miles from York. Ideally located for York Races. Three minute drive from The Norman’s wedding venue, ten minute drive from Woolas Barn wedding venue and 15 minutes from Hornington Manor and Priory Cottages.

The Carriage House is made up of four separate properties within the same building. Apartment One is on the ground floor, Apartment Two is on the first floor and Studios 3A and 3B are on the second floor. There is one door to the building and then separate doors into each apartment/studio. There is one communal stairway. There are eight bedrooms in total, four in Apartment One, two in Apartment Two and one in each of the studios. One of the bedrooms in Apartment One is a bunk bed room, most suitable for children as it adjoins the second double room. The twin room is above this double room, accessed by a spiral staircase so not suitable for the elderly or infirm. These three rooms together are ideal for families.

Every apartment/studio has either a double sofa bed or Jay-Be beds. These beds cost £239 each, so they are the best you can get and have a weight limit of 19 stones.

If you have booked both apartments and both studios, then you have use of our Hygge Room which is the one in the photos with the donkey picture. This room can seat 14+ people and is a few paces from the main door to The Carriage House. The use of this is included in the price you pay when you book all the accommodation in The Carriage House i.e. Apartments One and Two and also Studios 3A and 3B. If you are only booking one or two of the properties but would like to use The Hygge Room please contact us for prices. We also have some gardens which are about 50m from The Carriage House. These are also free to use for all guests - please note they are shared between guests of all five properties, although they are rarely busy. The gardens are fully enclosed and therefore suitable for dogs and small children. Dogs are welcome - on request only. Please contact us prior to booking. Charges apply as shown in the photograph.

WEDDING GUESTS: please note that this is one of four properties in the building. You can book each one individually or you can book the property as a whole. Apt 1 sleeps 8+2, Apt 2 sleeps 4+2 and each studio sleeps 2+2, meaning that 16 people can be accommodated in beds plus a further eight on sofa beds/Jay-Be beds. Please contact us if you would like further information about how best the accommodation can work for you.

Please note also that The Carriage House is over 200 years old. It is not a modern building! We have retained as many original features as possible. Sound can travel between the apartments; we clearly state this and ask for 'quiet hours' in our house rules. If you are looking for accommodation that is a sound-proof box then this might not be for you. You might hear footsteps from above and/or below and possibly the sound of a TV. That said, the only noise you will hear externally is the sound of owls and foxes and possibly a tractor. There are no rowdy pub/club goers, very (very!) little traffic and no sirens or music.

***********************Relaxation And Wellness Space **************************

Our Relaxation And Wellness Space (RAWS) has an Aspen 5/6 seater hot tub, a lounging area with comfortable seating, a bar area, large decking area and a dining area with gas bbq - all under wooden gazebos. There is also a sun terrace and a yoga studio. This area is regularly used for yoga classes/retreats and events so advance booking is essential. Please note that there are additional charges for use of this area; please ask for prices. Minimum charge for use of Hot Tub only is £50 as the tub has to be emptied, cleaned, refilled and reheated between guests.

Guest Access:
To find the Carriage House, come up Back Lane from the A64. You will pass the village pub car park on your left hand side. About 100m further on you will see a set of huge grey doors, again on your left and there are usually some traffic cones there. The Carriage House is the three storey building on your left, just past these doors.

Children welcome. Dogs/cats too on request as extra cleaning must be booked. Charge is £20 per stay for up to two pets. Must climb stairs to the apartment but then it is all on one level.

The Neighborhood:
Nearest pubs are The Nag's Head in Askham Bryan and The White Swan in Wighill and The Ship Inn in Acaster Malbis.
Bilbrough has a village park (enclosed) with play equipment.
Lots of good walks from the doorstep; there are four public footpaths in the village. We can provide secure storage for bicycles - please ask in advance.

Surrounding villages all have good pubs. Copmanthorpe (4 miles) offers pizza, Indian and Chinese takeaways as well as a Co-Op and a Post Office. Tadcaster (5 miles) is a small market town with a selection of shops including a Sainsbury's.

For late arrivals, we are three minutes by car from a petrol station with all essentials, plus a McDonald’s and a Starbucks.

Getting Around:
There is parking at the property. There is one village bus into York but the Coastliner operates every half an hour to either Leeds or York and the stop for this is only a 10 minute walk.

The best way to see York is to use the Park and Ride Service at Askham Bar (a six minute drive from The Carriage House).

The village bus timetable can be found here by searching for Pullman Number 37 bus.

The Coastliner bus timetable can be found on the York Bus website. You need to 840 or 843 York/Leeds bus.

Other Things to Note:
We provide tea, coffee, cereal, sugar, a pint of milk, a loaf of bread, butter, jam and eggs - all free of charge. There is washing up liquid, tin foil, cooking oil, salt, pepper, kitchen roll and a couple of dishwasher tablets and washing machine tablets.

Hand soap, shampoo and conditioner are provided in the apartment for your use along with a bath towel and hand towel per person.

We also have a selection of provisions in the apartment for you to purchase such as wine, beer, soft drinks and crisps. This operates on an honesty system and we ask that you leave the money for any items in the box provided.

Interaction with Guests:
We live in a nearby property so are available to guests if needed. Always available by telephone or text message.

Located in York, this apartment is in a rural area. Bar Convent Museum and York Grand Opera House are cultural highlights, and some of the area's attractions include York Dungeon and National Railway Museum. York National Railway Museum and Yorkshire Museum are also worth visiting.
