Without a doubt the Spanish City is one of the iconic features of Whitley Bay, completely regenerated an iconic building is one of the North East’s major landmarks and is now home to a champagne bar, cafes and restaurant with a local store selling memorabilia. Whitley Bay is also home to the Theatre (five minute walk) where many plays and musicians appear so great to check what’s on while planning your trip. Nearby Park View Shops has been voted one of the best shopping streets in the UK, with an eclectic mix of stores and cafes. Whitley Bay is home to Waves swimming pool and an ice rink for the children as well as plenty of ice cream, amusements and fish and chip shops it’s a super place to stay.
Nearby Tynemouth is home to a wonderful weekend market known as the Covent Garden of the North, held in the local metro station it’s popular with locals and visitors with a great choice of stalls and plenty of character. Tynemouth is well known for being a great surfer’s attraction and even has a surf café. The beaches are outstanding along this stretch of coast with miles of golden sands you are spoilt for choice on which one to visit. There is a local metro a few minutes walk where you can visit Newcastle, a vibrant bustling city full of architecture and history, walk along the quayside and have a photo taken by the famous Tyne Bridge. The road network around this area is ideal for allowing easy travel all over the county, the wonderful heritage Northumberland Coast is only half an hour away peppered with castles and friendly villages where you can stop off in Alnwick and take a look at the majestic castle featured in Harry Potter.
