Within a leisurely stroll you can reach the traditional fishing village, marina and golden beach of Seahouses. It has an interesting selection of independent shops, quirky pubs and restaurants, and not forgetting the best fish and chip shops in the North! From the working harbour, you can watch the local fisherman bring in the day’s catch full of lobsters, crabs and fish straight from the trawlers.
The cottage is perfectly located to explore the Heritage coastline, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The picture postcard village of Bamburgh, protected by its dramatic fortress, is a lovely walk from Seahouses along the top of St Aidan’s dunes and onto wide expanses of golden, and often empty, sandy beaches. Just beyond Bamburgh is Budle Bay, where at low tide a vast expanse of mud flats is the home to thousands of sea and land birds, making this bird sanctuary a haven for bird watchers. The market town of Alnwick, with its own castle, offers many facilities and is a few miles inland. Alnwick Gardens is a popular visitor attraction with its grand cascade waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe! This cosy cottage provides a tranquil retreat to return to at the end of a busy day exploring. Beach 1 mile.
