The Snug, a cosy lodge perfect for relaxing breaks in Northumberland. Unwind in the hot tub and feel at home with deluxe kitchen and living area.

Enjoy a relaxing stay in The Snug, a boutique, three bedroomed lodge set just inside the Northumberland National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Ideal for star gazing on a clear evening - perfect while sat in the hot tub on the private veranda - the National Park was awarded a gold tier international award for the largest Dark Sky Park in Europe.

It is situated in an exclusive park with a number of other lodges, 1 mile from Otterburn village. There is parking for two cars next to the lodge, and wooden steps up from the driveway lead to the decking area and front door. The detached, Norwegian pine lodge sleeps up to five guests. Ideal for a romantic break, relaxing with friends or a fun time with family. All bed linen and towels are supplied.

The 500-acre woodland estate is surrounded by nature at its best. There are two lakes and the ‘Otter-Burn’ within the grounds. An array of footpaths with stunning scenery and an abundance of wildlife are close by. Enjoy watching the varied selection of birds, local red squirrels visiting your balcony and spotting deer wandering around the park.

Otterburn village is a few minutes drive away or a pleasant 20-minute walk along a footpath trail through the fields. The village boasts Otterburn Castle, a manor house founded in the 11th century by a cousin of William the Conqueror and the luxurious and highly acclaimed Le Petit Château. Explore the church, dedicated to St John the Evangelist, and afterwards why not enjoy a bite to eat at the local restaurant? For something closer to Otterburn Hall Estate, why not take a stroll to The Coach House bar and restaurant, which is literally 100 metres from The Snug, with an excellent menu and lounge bar.

The Snug offers a cosy base for exploring the many delights this friendly county has to offer, including Kielder Forest and Observatory – home to the biggest man-made lake in Northern Europe and the largest working forest in England, and Northumberland Heritage Coast – a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with tranquil islands, wide beaches, marshes and saltflats, coves and cliffs to explore.

A day trip to Alnwick with its famous castle and beautiful gardens make it a perfect day out. Hadrian’s Wall is only a few miles away and is steeped in history with Roman Forts and museums along the way. The historic and beautiful Abbey at Jedburgh, only a 30-minute drive away, is just over the border into Scotland. The market towns of Rothbury and Hexham have plenty of pubs and shops.
