Kitchen Garden Cottage, Worksop

Nottinghamshire. Sleeps up to 4

Kitchen Garden Cottage was built around 1892 along with the nearby Gardens House (now the Garden Tea Room). Due to its proximity to the walled kitchen garden, vineries and the formal gardens, the cottage is thought to have been used to house either a number of workers from the gardens or one individual and his family, perhaps an assistant to the Head Gardener.

Simply decorated with comfortable interiors, this restored gardener’s cottage has no passing traffic meaning you can enjoy a noise-free break. All sleeping accommodation is located on the first floor and there’s a lawn area with a picnic bench for you to unwind, or even dine, outside.

Step out of your cottage front door to explore the miles of woodland walks and cycle trails and the abundance of wildlife that covers the sweeping estate. There is a cycle rental about 400m from the cottage. When you stay here, you’ll also have access to Clumber Park estate and the walled kitchen garden out-of-hours, so you can wander around without the crowds and feel like the lord and lady of the manor.

For fun days out you won’t be short of places to go, things to do and see. Sherwood Forest, home to the Major Oak of Robin Hood fame, is close by for fantasy woodland adventures, and the Derbyshire Peak District is an hour’s drive away if you fancy hiking over the rolling peaks. If you’re looking for a historic twist to your break, you could explore the historic city of Lincoln which is only 40 minutes away by car. Or why not discover more National Trust estates that are all within driving distance from the cottage, including Hardwick Hall, Belton House, Tattershall Castle, Gunby Hall, Calke Abbey and Kedleston Hall.
