On the other side of the peninsula Whitesands Beach is a surfer's paradise, at low tide the huge expanse of sand is great for football or cricket, games of chase or flying a kite. Solva Woollen MillOne of 26 woollen mills in the county in 1900, this is now the oldest working woollen mill in continuous production in Pembrokeshire. As well as a colourful range of woollen goods, it produces carpets, stair runners and floor rugs and has supplied a wall hanging and a carpet to the Prince of Wales for his Welsh retreat in Myddfai. Strumble HeadNorth Pembrokeshire has a dramatic and beautiful coastline. Sometimes wild and windy but always spectacular, Strumble Head is one of the best places in Britain to look out for passing pods of porpoises which surface in the tidal races just out beyond the point. Seals are often spotted in the sea below the lighthouse where a wartime lookout has been converted as a shelter for the public to use.
