Visit Pentre Ifan Cromlech, a burial chamber site thought to date from 3500BC, commanding some excellent views across the landscape, you can plan a walk incorporating this historic monument. Meet some four-legged friends at the lovely Dyfed Shire Horse Farm, home to these gentle giants along with llamas, sheep and donkeys too, it makes a perfect day out in the countryside. Head up to Cardigan to visit Cardigan Castle, a Georgian mansion telling the history of the building and the area, with Grade II listed gardens, and birthplace of Wales' biggest cultural festival, the Eisteddfod. Wander around the ruins of St Dogmaels Abbey, discover the medieval stone fortress of Cilgerran Castle run by the National Trust, or take a trip to the nearby town of Fishguard.
