The holiday property located in Llanbister, near Llandrindod Wells in Powys, Wales, offers a charming retreat for two guests, with the added benefit of being pet-friendly. Surrounded by picturesque countryside, the accommodation features an open-plan living area with traditional beamed ceilings, an electric woodburner, and a farmhouse-style kitchen equipped with a Rayburn for cooking and heating. The property includes a utility room, a bathroom with an over-bath shower, and a staircase leading to a double bedroom that also accommodates an additional single bed, making it suitable for a third guest.

Great Cantal Granary, the property in question, has a rich historical background as it was originally built in the early Victorian era to serve as a grain store for the adjacent Great Cantal Mill, which dates back to the 17th century. The mill operated until the late 1940s and was powered by a wooden overshot wheel using water from the River Aran. The granary played a significant role in the local agricultural community, where farmers stored their grain before milling, with the miller retaining some flour as payment. Although much of the mill's machinery was removed by the 1980s, a notable bedstone from 1830 remains a historical artifact, now displayed at Talgarth Mill, approximately 30 miles away.

The property boasts access to a network of tracks that lead to Maelienydd and Little Hill Commons, providing opportunities for exploration. Beacon Hill Common, a vast area of open moorland, lies to the north and is crossed by Glyndwr’s Way, a long-distance footpath. The River Aran, which flows through the area, is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a European Special Area of Conservation, supporting diverse wildlife. The owner of the property holds fishing rights on the nearby River Ithon, which is a 25-minute drive away, allowing guests to partake in fishing activities with a required license.

Wildlife enthusiasts will appreciate the surrounding natural habitats, as Maelienydd is a breeding ground for various bird species, including redshank and curlew, while Beacon Hill is home to the rare ring ouzel and red grouse. Additionally, Tylcau Hill, a nature reserve managed by the Radnorshire Wildlife Trust, is located just two miles from the granary and is open for visitors year-round. The spa town of Llandrindod Wells is located 15 miles away, with local amenities such as shops, pubs, and restaurants situated within a short driving distance, enhancing the convenience of this rural getaway.
