Just a 15-minute walk away, the beautiful town of Melrose is situated on the banks of the famous river tweed and was named as one of the best places to live in Scotland by the Sunday Times for 2020. Steeped with history, nearby is the ruined Melrose Abbey which dates from 1136 where a cask was discovered believed to contain the Heart of Robert the Bruce, as well as Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott. The triple peaks of Eildon Hills are a great place to explore for the outdoor enthusiasts, whilst for those who prefer to relax and unwind, you can wander the streets of Melrose with pretty boutique shops or visit the National Trust gardens nearby. The town is also home to the famous rugby sevens and book festival. Both Edinburgh and Berwick Upon Tweed are within an hour’s drive for those wanting to explore further afield.
