Region: A E Housman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
Town: Bridgnorth is divided into two distinct halves: the High Town and the Low Town, which are separated by the town's red sandstone ridge. The two halves are connected by meandering alleys and flights of steps, or there is always the steep funicular railway, permitting the weary visitor to witness what Charles I deemed "the loveliest vista in all my kingdom". A bustling Saturday street market provides ample opportunity to tour the town and investigate the castle remains, which lean more than the Leaning Tower of Pisa!
Located in Bridgnorth, this lodge is in a rural area and on a river. Astbury Golf Course and Bridgnorth Station are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those looking for area attractions can visit West Midland Safari Park and Highley Station Visitor Centre. Rays Farm Country Matters and Owl & Falconry Centre are also worth visiting. Discover the area's water adventures with fishing nearby, or enjoy the great outdoors with hiking/biking trails and cycling.
