Rumwell Park - 8 Bedroom Manor House- Taunton, Taunton

Somerset. Sleeps up to 18

Rumwell Park is a stunning Grade II listed house, built in the Rococo architectural style dating back to the 1850's. The property is approached via a long sweeping driveway and stands on more than two acres of land, enjoying beautiful countryside views. The house is built from mellow hamstone under a slate roof, in the Italianate villa style. It contains a number of significant architectural features including high ceilings, long sash windows, many with working shutters, and ornate cornicing and picture rails to several rooms.

You can find house shoes waiting for you in the boot room after passing through the tall double doors. Then enter into the reception area with a fireplace, high ceiling and surrounding staircase. From the reception hall you can enter a huge dining room with towering windows facing out onto the grounds, a sizable chandelier, and an illusionary fireplace to the left of the room. There is a small playroom with a large TV and toys right outside the dining area where children can play whilst you enjoy a meal. A large lounge with a baby grand piano, an ancient cast iron fireplace, and four low to high windows that let in plenty of natural light can be found in the second room behind the reception. The original Italian Rococo-styled cornicing is still present in the lounge. The third room, which is located off the reception area, is a spacious, light-filled bedroom. There are two single beds and a double in here sleeping four. You can admire the views from this room as they have floor to ceiling windows. There is also a small WC off the main entrance. On the ground level, continuing to the right, you will find another lounge with plenty of seats, a smart TV, and a double Villager fireplace. You may enjoy the views here throughout the day and cuddle up in front of the fire at night. The kitchen, the beating heart of a home, is located opposite the smaller lounge. Please make use of the appliances you discover, including a five-burner gas stove, two refrigerators, two freezers, a double oven, an Aga (in winter months), a washing machine, a dishwasher, cafetières, and all the necessary utensils.

Returning to the front of the home, ascend the wide staircase to the mezzanine balcony by way of the reception. The first room you enter has a super King four poster bed, a full-sized cot bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. Views of the front gardens and the side countryside are available from this room. A super King bed is also included in the second bedroom, which also has four enormous, tall windows that let in ample natural light and let you enjoy the views of the countryside while you unwind in bed. Access to a family bathroom with a bath and overhead shower is available from this space. You can also use the main landing to access this bathroom.
The third bedroom upstairs features a King-sized sleigh bed and offers yet another stunning view of the surrounding countryside, where you may occasionally see the animals grazing. A vintage cast iron fireplace is also located in this room (this is not to be used). A family wet room with a rain floor shower is located further down the balcony hallway.

When you finally enter the South wing of the manor, the first room you encounter has a super King sleigh bed, excellent views, and a seating area. As a feature in the space, there is yet another cast iron fireplace. With views of the Blackdown hills as you lay in bed, the next bedroom is a compact yet lovely double room. This landing also houses two twin rooms, both of which have views of the front grounds. There is a family bathroom with a bath and an above shower that these three bedrooms share.

Returning to the kitchen after descending the stairs in the south wing. To access the former garage area, where there is a full-size ping pong table and foosball, proceed to the end of the corridor, through the door, and outside. You have a sizable courtyard on the South side of the property which offers seating and a large hot tub.

Rumwell Park’s grounds offer areas for solitude, places for gathering, or a tranquil stroll where you may take in the scenery and hear the birds. There is even a tree swing in the front of the property. Parking is possible with no problem.

This vacation home is located in Taunton. Somerset County & Military Museum and Admiral Blake Museum are cultural highlights, and some of the area's landmarks include Woodlands Castle and Bishop's Lydeard Station. AJ'z Activity Centre and Walled Gardens of Cannington are also worth visiting.
