Nestled in the heart of the Exmoor National Park within walking distance of the picturesque village of Exford lies the charming and unique Hoglets Cottage. The property has undergone extensive refurbishment and is brought to the market for the first time this year by seasoned hosts with over 14 years’ experience in holiday accommodation. Hoglets Cottage was originally a detached 19th Century barn which has been converted & extended to create a spacious property that combines character and modern facilities in equal measure, the best of both worlds. The hosts pride themselves on wanting to provide you with a great holiday home. After moving from the South Downs to Exmoor they are still adapting to this incredible landscape themselves and look forward to you enjoying this little piece of heaven too! Sleeping up to four guests, Hoglets can be found through a five-bar gate at the end of a bridle way, with ample parking adjacent to the cottage. This characterful cottage is full of interesting features and as you head inside you will be greeted by a fabulous, well equipped kitchen diner perfect for successful self-catering. Continue through to the comfortable sitting room with log burner, smart tv and patio door to the private garden. Also on the ground floor is a spacious utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, space for coats & boots and a modern shower room. Stairs lead up from the sitting room to three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed with far-reaching views, and along the landing there are two single bedrooms – all the beds have exceptional quality mattresses and bedding to ensure a good night’s sleep. The vaulted family bathroom is furnished with a roll top bath and beamed ceiling. Outside there is a beautifully landscaped, private garden with patio, furniture & BBQ and steps leading to the three-acre gated and fenced paddock – take some refreshment & a picnic blanket, walk to the top and enjoy the breath-taking views, abundant flora and fauna including swallows & house martins, wait until dusk and you might even catch a glimpse of a hedgehog! Stay until nightfall and immerse yourself in a truly dark night sky. Hoglets Cottage is perfectly placed as a base to enjoy all this beautiful National Park has to offer – from moors to woodland, rivers and coastline, valleys, and peaks – all spectacular and completely unspoilt. Excursion enthusiasts will love the various working trails that serve the park where they can venture through glorious woodland, moors and coastal scenery; kids can spend the day learning about the park's wildlife at the Outdoor Education Centre at Pinkery, when night falls make the most of Exmoor's Dark Skies and enjoy a spot of stargazing. The picturesque village of Exford is situated in the heart of the Exmoor National Park․ In a lovely setting by the River Exe, Exford boasts a village green, tea rooms, a shop, Post Office and two traditional inns serving excellent food and drinks. Exford is at the centre of a walkers' paradise with many miles of waymarked paths down the Exe and River Barle valleys and up to the nearby hills, including Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor, with outstanding views over 7 counties․ Exford is renowned for fishing and riding, with the village hosting a horse show every August. The largest herd of wild red deer in England and Exmoor’s unique wild ponies roam the moors just above and around Exford, as they have done since the time of the Domesday Book․ Guided walks with a National Park Ranger take place throughout the summer, and Exmoor is home to Lorna Doone and Tarka the otter, it is a place of rolling hills, medieval villages, such as Dunster with its castle, wild moors and a dramatic coastline. The coastal towns of Lynmouth, Porlock and Minehead are only a short drive from Exford and there are a variety of beaches along the coast, consisting of sandy and shingle beaches, plus some are ideal for surfing and body boarding․ In 2011 Exmoor National Park was designated an International Dark Sky Reserve, the first place in Europe to achieve this prestigious award and only the second in the world. For your next trip to Exmoor National Park, where you can make the most of what the glorious countryside has to offer, choose Hoglets.
