This traditional detached cottage, The Reading Room, is situated in the centre of Hinton St George, a postcard picture village in Somerset. With the famous Jurassic Coast nearby, this pet-friendly cottage is a superb base whilst explore the beauty of countryside and coast. You can grab a parking spot on the roadside and head into the house, past the lovely flowers and plants. You are welcomed into a sitting room with a warming woodburning stove, making a great space to relax in front of the television. Moving through there is a kitchen/diner with an oak dining table where you can enjoy an evening meal, and a large range cooker along with other self-catering facilities which are certain to entice any budding chefs. The ground-floor also boasts a cloakroom with WC and a utility with a handy washing machine. When the evening draws to a close, retire past the spacious landing and through the wooden doors to one of the three bedrooms; a colourful single, a double with storage, or a double with a scenic Velux window. These bedrooms are complimented by a blue-coloured shower room so guests can freshen up after a long day of exploring the area. Outside there is a rear courtyard with furniture, so grab a bottle of wine and enjoy an evening under the stars or take advantage of the bike storage for those wishing to explore the area on two wheels. The Reading Room is just a stone's throw away from the quaint village shop for any self-catering essentials, or the pub if you'd prefer an evening of hearty food and local Somerset cider. Either side of the village there are two towns, Crewkerne and Ilminster, which are both filled with supermarkets, high street shops and independent stores. Also, just a short drive away is the larger town of Yeovil which is home to a cinema, a golf course and a country park, as well as the nearby 16th century National Trust Montacute House with formal gardens. The surrounding area is a haven for walkers and cyclists with the scenic East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Blackdown Hills AONB, and Dorset AONB within driving distance and offering stunning views, a range of hills and active wildlife. If you're looking for a beach day, travel to Lyme Regis where you can find interesting museums, an aquarium, a sandy beach, a pebbled beach and a fossil beach, whilst Lyme Regis is also the midpoint of the Jurassic Coast, meaning you can travel east or west to enjoy the rest of this scenic coastal path, filled with beaches. Also, in the area you can visit the National Trust property of Barrington Court, Forde Abbey House with its garden centre, Ham Hill country park with its grassy peak and war memorial and the Haynes International Motor Museum with its display of cars and motorbikes dating back to the 19th century.
