The surrounding countryside is perfect for all manner of outdoor pursuits or head 15 miles south to the picturesque Jurassic Coastline, where you can explore the cobbled streets of Lyme Regis and go fossil hunting at Charmouth. Axminster is a hotspot for foodies and there are numerous National Trust properties within 15 miles including Barrington Court, Montacute House and Tintinhull Gardens. A good selection of local amenities can be found in Chard, which is 3 miles to the south.
