In the neighbouring village of Watchfield there is a huge rambling old country pub ‘The Watchfield Inn’ where you can enjoy a pint after a long walk. Across the road from the pub is Rich’s Cider Farm Shop and Restaurant where you can visit and sample all the different ciders, plus there are many other excellent local pubs and restaurants in neighbouring villages. The market town of Highbridge offers a choice of shops ranging from supermarkets to retailers, or head to Burnham-on-Sea, a classic seaside resort, with its unspoilt sandy beach and vibrant pier. Just down the coast is the National Trust location Brean Down; a 97-metre-high down with views out over the Bristol Channel towards South Wales and over the Somerset Levels. Further attractions to consider include the Apex Leisure and Wildlife Park, Cheddar Gorge and the Wookey Hole Caves, and the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a must for those keen walkers.
