Region: The ultimate in “year-round” appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.
Town: The Romans were drawn to Buxton because of the town's eight hot springs, whose bubbling blue waters maintain a constant temperature of 28 degrees centigrade year-round. The Palladian splendour of modern-day Buxton, including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens, and The Opera House, was, however, designed and built during the 18th and 19th centuries under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire. Today, the Opera House's full schedule and annual festivals in music and the arts continue to draw crowds to these spectacular structures and gardens. Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton, and Edale are just a few of the lovely towns and villages strewn around the area, and there are plenty of opportunities for hiking in the nearby harsh peaks to the north and pleasant hills and dales to the south. In close proximity to this location are the breathtaking mansions of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. Fabulous location from which to discover the Peak District.
Located in Buxton, this vacation home is in a rural area and on a river. The Octagon Theatre and Buxton Opera House are cultural highlights, and some of the area's landmarks include Chatsworth House and The Crescent. Looking to enjoy an event or a game while in town? See what's happening at Church Lane or Church Lane. Discover the area's water adventures with fishing nearby, or enjoy the great outdoors with hiking and cycling.
