Town: Situated in the heart of the picturesque Peak District National Park, the lovely village of Tideswell enjoys beautiful surroundings. Famous for its church, "The Cathedral of the Peaks", which was dedicated to St John the Baptist, the village is also noted for its unique well-dressing and carnival wakes. With the Peak District always a favourite amongst ramblers, there are some excellent hill walks over the northern rugged peaks and the gently undulating hills of the southern dales. Only a fifteen minute drive away is the popular spa town of Buxton, whilst closer to home are the charming Mam Tor and Castleton, though with a variety of fine country inns, excellent restaurants, a chemist, a butchers and a bakers shop, you might never need to leave the village of Tideswell.
