Town: Only 10 miles from the the coast, this historic community with Roman roots lies on the outskirts of the Suffolk Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. To distinguish it from the younger, surrounding community of Martlesham Heath, which is just 40 years old, it is frequently referred to as "Old Martlesham." Martlesham Village is a great base for a coastal getaway, housing a post office, two pubs, one of which dates back to the 1500s, and a fish and chip shop, among other necessities. Martlesham Creek, which runs into the River Deben and down to the shore, is also located in the hamlet and is a popular sailing spot. If you'd rather to drive to the coast, Felixstowe, which is only 10 miles away, offers a wealth of amenities in addition to a beautiful beach and an amusement arcade. Ipswich, the county town of Suffolk, is a little closer and proved to be an excellent day trip destination with its retail mall, movie theatre, and assortment of parks.
Located in Ipswich, this lodge is in a rural area and on a river. Suffolk Yacht Harbor and Seckford Golf Centre are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those in the mood for shopping can visit Felixstowe Market and Cardinal Park. Looking to enjoy an event or a game while in town? See what's happening at Foxhall Stadium or Ipswich Skatepark. Discover the area's water adventures with fishing nearby, or enjoy the great outdoors with hiking/biking trails.
