The Lodge, Stowmarket

Suffolk. Sleeps up to 4

This custom-built holiday property takes the form of a top-quality Finnish log cabin, sleeping up to 4 people for a Suffolk break. Enjoy the comfortable furnishings and charming ambience as you relax in stylish surroundings.

The spacious living area has a fabulous homely feel with a contemporary wood burning stove for those cosy nights curled up on the sofa. There is a large balcony leading out from the main sitting room area with wonderful chunky wooden sofas and garden furniture – sit back, enjoy the peace and relax watching goats and sheep graze in the neighbouring paddocks.

Inside the Lodge boasts two good sized bedrooms – one double and one twin – with the double having an en-suite bathroom with modern shower. The family bathroom has a freestanding bath and stunning Moroccan basin. Highly eco-friendly, the cabin is well insulated so cool in summer and warm in winter – it is heated throughout with underfloor heating from an air heat source system.

Set in a mature garden with a terraced area for outside dining, the Lodge has wonderful views from the garden and main bedroom over rolling Suffolk farmland.

If you can tear yourself away from the fantastic views across the countryside there are some beautiful places to visit in the local area. There are a number of circular walks out from the Lodge or head to Priestley Wood to see the bluebells in bloom. The wood is ranked in The Woodland Trusts top 10 bluebell woods and you may also find a number of species of orchids.

If you are interested in medieval history, a trip to one of the wool towns will allow you to see the architecture associated with the wealth of the wool trade. Long Melford and Lavenham are both worth a visit with a number of fine buildings to explore including the churches. Long Melford is also home to Kentwell Hall, a Tudor manor and estate. The Hall hosts a number of historical re-enactments throughout the year and other events which for younger visitors gives them a living history experience.

This area of Suffolk has also provided inspiration for several world-famous painters – John Constable, Thomas Gainsborough and Alfred Munnings. There are several museums dedicated to the artists and you can explore the countryside which provided such an important influence for them with their work.

Only two hours from London, yet sitting in the middle of stunning Suffolk countryside, The Lodge really is ideal for couples looking to explore the local area but also for families keen to discover a bit of the county. Leaving behind the hustle and bustle of daily life you can return to the peace and quiet of The Lodge and enjoy the views from the verandah or the cosiness of the sitting area.
