No smoking. Please note: There is a step in the garden. No children under the 16 years old (working farm). . Far Barsey Cottage can be found in the heart of wonderful Calderdale, West Yorkshire. Set on the friendly owners working farm it’s surrounded by stunning countryside and is beautifully cosy, providing the perfect base for couples and friends alike. It has a small sitting out area for morning coffee or evening glass of wine, and a wood burning stove for toasty winter evenings. You’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, however there’s no need to cook with several local eateries within a 2 miles radius.
The cottage is ideally located for outdoor enthusiasts with a variety of activities available in the surrounding area. For keen cyclists, there is a range of cycle paths to suit all ages and abilities, with the National Cycle Route 68 passing close by. Alternatively, you can explore the beautiful scenery of the area on foot following one of the many walks available throughout Calderdale.
Locally the village of Ripponden is around a 5-minute drive and offers a small high street with shops, cafés, and an award-winning restaurant. Calderdale’s largest town, Halifax, can be reached in around 15 minutes, and here you’ll find stunning Victorian architecture such as the unique Piece Hall (used during 2022 for Marvel filming!) and the Halifax Minster, together with markets, independent and high street shops, and many great places to eat and drink.
Hebden Bridge is around a 30-minute drive, and is a fabulously diverse, bohemian town with a good selection of restaurants, bars, bistros, markets, and art galleries. Haworth, home of the Brontë heritage and the Keighley and Worth Valley Steam Railway is around 45 minutes’ drive away. The other direction leads you to Holmfirth, most recognized as the backdrop to Last of the Summer Wine, and the fabulous Peak District National Park, both of which can be reached in around 30 minutes. There are also several golf courses in the area, perfect for whiling away a sunny afternoon.
