Cleobury Mortimer 3.8 miles. Shepherds Retreat is a delightful shepherd's hut enjoying the countryside on its doorstep on the southern edge of the Shropshire Hills AONB, in Hopton Bank near Cleobury Mortimer. Ideal for a couple who want to escape the hustle and bustle of life, the hut enjoys unbeatable, panoramic views covering 40 miles of countryside, towns, villages and on a clear day you can even spot Birmingham! Be greeted by the wild orchid field on arrival, before parking up in the off-road space. Venture inside via the steps of the hut's timber-clad studio-style accommodation. Kick back and relax on one of the plush armchairs as you savour a glass of wine and watch TV; all the while the electric fire warms your toes! When you're feeling peckish, make your way to the kitchen, a compact but stylish and practical space, thanks to its LED lighting and range of appliances available. Once you've fixed up a delicious meal, open out the folding table and chairs and enjoy a meal for two by the fire, or take the meal out to the decking and tuck in amidst those gorgeous views. When night falls, retreat to the double, a bespoke bed with a reconditioned 1930s bed frame, and enjoy a well-earned rest. In the morning, freshen up in the shower room, a space enjoying a walk-in shower and the lovely touch of an illuminated mirror. Cleobury Mortimer is situated a very short drive away and offers all your amenities in one handy location, including a range of eateries sitting on its main street, along with a supermarket stocked with all you need for a self-catered stay. Make the most of the hut's marvellous location, where the walking trails and cycle routes of the Shropshire Hills rest a stone's throw away, including the hiking area of Titterstone Clee, where you can trek to the Cleehill Summit and enjoy breathtaking views; alternatively, you can venture to Clee Hills View Point for more rural views, as well as access to Treenpits. The market town of Ludlow is within easy reach and has plenty to offer, from a food festival to the wonderful sights of Ludlow Castle and the Whitcliffe Common Nature Reserve. Bridgnorth, Kidderminster, the Wyre Forest Nature Reserve and Worcester are all easily reached and offer even more to do. Whisk your partner away for a blissful stay at Shepherds Retreat.
