Situated in the small hamlet of Barton, close to the bustling village of Bidford-on-Avon, is this wonderful and traditional, semi-detached Tudor cottage. Built in Shakespeare’s time, it is now a Grade II listed property and one of the oldest houses in Barton. It makes a wonderful choice for couples, friends and older families to enjoy the area. Boasting a private fishing jetty onto the River Avon, it truly is a wonderful spot for both fishermen and guests to enjoy watching the tranquil river and the wildlife it attracts. Coarse fishing is available in season within 100 yards of the property up a few steps to the bank of the River Avon.
Inside the cottage, you are welcomed by a country-style kitchen, a large living room and spacious adjoining bedrooms (access to the twin bedroom is via the double bedroom). The property boasts original beamed ceilings and is full of character, and has been furnished and decorated in a traditional style in keeping with its history. The large rear garden leads to the owners ‘market garden’ where fruit trees and produce grow. A second, private garden, is at the front of the cottage, with table and chairs for outdoor meals and barbecues. You can even fish on the bank that’s in the garden.
The small and mighty village of Barton boasts a traditional English pub and is within a mile of the larger and bustling village of Bidford-on-Avon where you’ll find local amenities including convenience shops, a café, a butchers, restaurants, pubs and takeaways. There are many beautiful walks from the doorstep including one to the Marcliff and Barton locks, the Heart of England Way, through meadows and to a 26-acre recreational park.
A 10-minute drive will take you to the famous playwright’s birthplace of Stratford-upon-Avon where you will find an abundance of shops, pubs, restaurants and historic houses as well as The Royal Shakespeare Theatre. A short 20-minute drive will take you into the beautiful Cotswolds, where you can take in picturesque villages of Broadway, Chipping Campden, Snowshill and Stow-on-the-Wold. The cottage is close to the Vale of Evesham where a variety of produce is grown and there are many farm shops and cafés and to be enjoyed close by.

Garden of Remembrance and Avon Bank Gardens are also worth visiting. Fishing offers a great chance to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with horse riding nearby.
