Region: A E Housman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
Town: On the banks of the River Teme in Worcestershire is the lovely, historic town of Tenbury Wells. Tenbury Wells, which dates to the Iron Age and is rumoured to have been Queen Victoria's "little town in the orchard," is home to a remarkable 18th-century bridge constructed by Thomas Telford, the magnificent Pump Rooms, which housed baths where local mineral water was available, and numerous other 17th-century listed structures. In addition to hosting numerous festivals throughout the year, including Applefest in October and Holly and Mistletoe around Christmas, this vibrant town features many unique shops, old-fashioned pubs, cafés, and tea rooms.
Located in Tenbury Wells, this vacation home is in a rural area. Tenbury Museum and Bewdley Museum are cultural highlights, and some of the area's attractions include West Midland Safari Park and Clee Hills. Rays Farm Country Matters and Ludlow Food Centre are also worth visiting. Break out the clubs and hit the links with a golf course nearby, or seek out an adventure with hiking/biking trails and cycling.
