Monument cottage is set in 88 acres of picturesque deciduous woodland, the beautiful setting is not only pleasing to the eye but is steeped in history principally revolving round the ancient monuments of the camus cross(dated 1010) and the panmure testimonial; both located with the grounds. The surrounding environment is rich in wildlife making the setting ideal for nature lovers, outdoor activity enthusiasts and history lovers alike.

The city of Dundee (UNESCO city of design & future home of the V&A) is a short drive away and offers arts & culture in abundance, family friendly attractions and all that you would expect from a city of its stature – museums, theatres and shopping.

The Angus Glens 15 to 20 miles to the northwest possess some of Scotland’s finest grouse moors, deer forests and spectacular walks.
For the keen fisherman, there is salmon fishing on the rivers Tay, North Esk and South Esk, nearer to home are fishings offering Fly-fishing and Coarse fishing and for the more adventurous Sea fishing is available in nearby Arbroath.
Arbroath, the largest town in Angus is the location of Arbroath Abbey, where the declaration of independance was signed, expressing the desire of the Scottish people for self-determination. The popular culinary delight the Arbroath smokie is made in this picturesque fishing port .

Broughty Ferry boasts several restaurants offering a variety - from local dishes to Indian and Chinese meals. Many of the larger hotels in the area also offer good restaurant food. Carnoustie, venue of the Open Golf Championship lies 10 minutes drive to the south east, alongside several other well-regarded local golf courses, many of championship qualifying standard. In addition St Andrews, the home of golf is 30 – 45 minutes drive.
