St Hilda is a truly classic vessel, an ex-tall ship, with a traditional, beamed, 54ft wooden (larch on oak) ketch. St Hilda is a vessel with an incredible Scottish lineage. Built in 1973 to the highest standard at St Monans, Fife, by the internationally renowned Millers boatyard (a family run business with 200 years of wooden boat building) and designed by G.L Watson, the world famous Glasgow based naval architect, who created the world’s first yacht design office in 1873.
St Hilda was built specifically for sail training with a crew of twenty. By 2007, St Hilda was converted for cruising with six guests. St Hilda is one of the smallest of the ‘Tall Ships’ and has competed in several tall ship races. The bedrooms are warm and comfortable, accommodating up to six guests. The double bedroom has an en-suite shower room with two picturesque opening portholes. One twin bedroom has an en-suite with toilet and washbasin and the other second twin bedroom is situated close to the toilet and shower rooms which are of a good standard for a yacht. All bedroom linen and towels are supplied. The well-lit, roomy deck saloon is where the family can come together to dine and socialise after a day of adventure. The outdoor decks are perfect for relaxing and there is some deck space to embark your own equipment such as kayaks and surfboards. Please note: As the properties are self catering, there are no crew onboard and the vessels do not set sail. Beach 3 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
St Hilda can be booked together with Seahorse II (UK31075) and Gemini Explorer (UK31076) to accommodate up to 25 guests.
There are steps to the lower deck.
