The cottage is aptly named after the stream, Arndale Beck, which meanders its way along the garden boundary. The surrounding scenery is simply stunning and a haven for wildlife including hares, red deer, owls and herons which make regular visits, as well as buzzards soaring up above. The cottage is not disturbed by traffic noise as it sits on a quiet, single road track, yet it is only 4 miles from bustling Windermere and 9 miles (less than 20 minutes by taxi) from the nearest train station at Oxenholme, which connects with London and Glasgow via the West Coast Line. Windermere is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Lake District offering a good choice of shops, attractions, water sports and eateries. Within a 2-mile walk are four very good pubs serving locally sourced good food and ales. For wildlife enthusiasts, the Barkbooth Nature Reserve is just a 5-minute walk from the cottage, where you will see a vast array of flora and fauna including rare species of dragonflies and butterflies.
Spend your days sitting on the terrace soaking up the peace and tranquillity that surrounds it, hop on your bike or lace up your walking boots and discover the beauty of the area up close. Whether you choose to relax, be active or explore, Arndale Cottage offers all the right ingredients for a memorable holiday in the Lake District. Beach 11 miles. Shop, pubs and restaurant 2 miles.
