Part of the prestigious Applethwaite Hall development, The Mulberry is a contemporary, luxurious retreat within striking distance of the Lakeland town of Windermere and her busier neighbour, Bowness yet far enough away to appreciate a peaceful, countryside location. One of the exclusive apartments created within a stunning former Arts and Crafts country house, this spacious first floor apartment offers superb views across the grounds to the Langdale Pikes and beyond, in the very heart of the Lakes. The owners are life-long lovers of the Lake District who regularly use the apartment and have created a stylish and comfortable space complimented by artwork and crafts by local artists. Just a mile from the centre of Windermere, The Mulberry at Applethwaite Hall is not only well placed for enjoying a wealth of outdoor activities for all ages and abilities but provides the opportunity to sample the eclectic mix of boutiques, restaurant, coffee shops and galleries that the town offers. Accommodation in detail Sharing the rather grand entrance to the main building, The Mulberry at Applethwaite Hall can be found on the first floor and is all on one level and South West facing. An inner hallway offers useful hanging space for walking gear and leads into the main entrance hall which opens into the stunning open plan living space complete with original stone mullioned windows providing a wonderful outlook over the mature grounds and to the fells in the distance. This super social space, beautifully presented in neutral shades with accent colour, offers sumptuous corner seating, large wall mounted Smart TV with DVD player and Ruark digital radio and blue tooth connected speaker. The room blends effortlessly through to the adjacent kitchen and dining area with all the facilities you'd expect from such a high quality conversion; Neff appliances of oven, hob, microwave fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/drier and yet more of those stunning, original window openings! A generously proportioned walnut dining table is ideally positioned for social dining and fell views. Both bedrooms have been designed and styled with the emphasis on comfort and quality incorporating oak furniture, high quality bedding, natural wool fabrics and accessories, perfectly chosen original artwork and built in wardrobes. Bedroom 1, a kingsize, benefits from the adjacent Villeroy and Boch house bathroom with shower over the bath, handbasin and wc. Bedroom 2 is a spacious superking made up as a double (can be made up as a twin - please request at time of booking) with access to the en-suite Villeroy and Boch shower room with cubicle, handbasin and wc. The owners are keen walkers, and have made maps and walking guides available for guest use. For those occasional damp days, a Dry-Soon Airer has been thoughtfully provided for walking gear. There is a private, numbered car parking space for one car within the level parking area and further visitor's spaces are available. For cyclists there is a secure, covered bike store. Guests at The Mulberry at Applethwaite Hall are free to roam the Hall's beautiful lawns and woodland, home to a host of wildlife including a family of deer, squirrels and a variety of native birds. Whether you're an experienced or novice walker, sailor or cyclist, there are plenty of outdoor opportunities right on the doorstep. Orrest Head and Post Knott are within 20 minutes walk offering an amazing panoramic view across England’s largest Lake Windermere to Coniston, Bow Fell, Crinkle Crags and the Langdale Pikes. Sailing, paddleboarding, kayaking and canoeing are just some of the watersports available on Windermere and nearby Grizedale Forest offers trails for cyclists and mountain bikers of all abilities. Location Applethwaite Hall is in an enviable location; easily reached by car (just 20 minutes from J36 of the M6) or by train and perfectly placed to explore Windermere village, Bowness, Lake Windermere and all the Lake District has to offer. Windermere has an abundance of cafés, restaurants and traditional Lake District pubs to choose from with plenty of shops, including Booth’s supermarket, for stocking up the kitchen. There are many National Trust and other historic properties and gardens near at hand including the 400 year old Townend Farmhouse, Holehird Gardens, Blackwell Arts and Crafts house and Allan Bank where the iconic red squirrels reliably put in an appearance!
