A short distance away is Doveridge Clay Sports, the impressive JCB world headquarters is at Rocester with a visitor centre, guided tour and shop, or you can treat yourself to a day at Hoar Cross Hall Spa. Uttoxeter has a good selection of eateries and independent shops, the delightsome Refearn Cottage where you can brush up on the town’s history, the popular racecourse which frequently holds fixtures and the excellent Uttoxeter Golf Club. Uttoxeter also offers a cinema, bowling, ice skating and swimming. Be sure to pay a visit to Sudbury, home to the grand National Trust site of Sudbury Hall which houses a museum and a lovely courtyard with café. There are a number of National Trust sites in the area including Ilam Hall and Calke Abbey. Next stop is Ashbourne, speckled with historic buildings and shops, if you time your visit right you may catch the annual Shrovetide football match! From here you can easily access the fun-filled Alton Towers theme park and gardens, where you can ride a wide variety of rollercoasters, tour the on-site aquarium, or sample a selection of delicious snacks and meals. The fun continues at Peak Wildlife Park for any animal lovers in your group, and the Conkers Adventure and Discovery Park. Those looking for a taste of city life will love Stoke-on-Trent with the fascinating Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, the stunning Trentham Gardens and Gladstone Pottery Museum, plus the fun-filled aspects of Waterworld. Another city, Derby, also isn't far and offers a range of things to see and do, from the historic attractions of Pickford's House Museum and The Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill to the lovely sights of Elvaston Castle Country Park and Darley Park, to the exciting Paradise Island Adventure Golf. The outdoor enthusiasts in your party may prefer the scenic delights and walking trails within the Dovedale Valley, or the Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, an area also hosting the renowned Go Ape adventure park and a popular, weekly parkrun. The beautiful outdoors continues in the Churnet Valley including Dimmingsdale with the Furnace Forest and Ramblers retreat, or the splendid Churnet Valley cycleway and heritage railway.
