Litton can be described as one of the most attractive villages in the Peak District with many late 17th and 18th century houses full of character set around a large village green where you can find an ancient cross, old wooden stocks and a quaint village pub. Every year in late June, Litton has its Well Dressing Festival. Celebrations last all week with maypole dancing displays by local school children and Morris dancing alongside local brass bands. For the walking enthusiasts, the area boasts some of the most beautiful dales and valleys in the Peak District. A popular walk is the Litton Loop which includes Cressbrook, Tideswell, Tansley and Monsal Dale. Step into the cottage through the stable door and notice the focal point of the lounge which is the impressive and imposing fireplace hosting a warming wood burner, certain to take the chill off during the cooler months.
