Ottery St Mary is steeped in history , made famous by its links to Cromwell and the English poet, Samuel Taylor Coleridge. It hosts several annual events, including Pixie Day, carnival processions, and most famously, the flaming tar barrels in November. The seaside resorts of Branscombe, Beer and Lyme Regis are within easy reach and the regency seaside town of Sidmouth is a mere 6 miles away. It offers a beach with dog friendly sections, access to the World Heritage, South West Coastal Path, esplanade, water sports and Connaught Gardens. It also hosts the popular Sidmouth Folk Festival in August.
