This huge detached Georgian house is situated close to the River Tavy on a 6,000 acre estate 1½ miles from Milton Combe. With contemporary style and lots of comfort, this house offers excellent accommodation for families or groups of friends. From the big hall, head into the light and elegant sitting room with charming paintings, a cosy open fire and a big table for sociable mealtimes when you can pick your bottles out of the wine fridge. The TV room is decorated in an atmospheric deep red, a great place to enjoy a movie after dinner. The eight bedrooms ramble over two floors, big and bright on the first floor and smaller and more intimate on the top floor, in true Downton style. Beside the house you can enjoy barbecues in the courtyard, whilst the children play on the lawn at the back. There is a games room for playing table tennis. A jetty to launch your own small boat on to the river, as well as sandy beaches to play on. Cyclists will be delighted by the countryside and the Plym Valley cycle track, and space is provided for you to store your bikes in the barns. You can head to the village pub for a pint, or further afield to Tavistock town or the city of Plymouth with its restaurants, shops and theatre. For history buffs, Buckland Abbey is close to the house, and there is a choice of other National Trust houses and gardens and fishing villages within 15 miles. Maristow Barton is a very special destination, stylish yet relaxed and in a beautiful area.
