Originally the heart of the community, this charming converted chapel has been lovingly furnished and equipped to provide a comfortable holiday cottage for couples or a family, in a beautiful part of East Devon, and close to the Dorset border. Dating from 1796, and retaining many character features, the accommodation is bright and airy with a sociable open-plan sitting room, dining area and cute kitchen . The ground floor also has a family cloakroom/shower room, and two steps lead up to a comfortable twin bedroom. The attractive master bedroom is located on the first floor, and it has its own en-suite shower room, and views out across the fields behind the chapel.
In front of the chapel is a small courtyard with a bistro table and chairs, and there is a secluded and gated gravelled garden with picnic bench, barbecue area, sun lounger and deck chairs just opposite the chapel, accessed across the road and down a short path. Next door to the chapel is the Ridgeway Country Hotel which provides opportunities for lunch or dinner for guests who would like a break from catering, or a drink before you prepare your own tasty meal. The Farm Shop at Tytherleigh is just over two miles away, and the shops and cafes in Axminster are just a short drive away, as is the famous River Cottage headquarters. With plenty to see and do in the area, including exploring the Black Down Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the stunning Jurassic Coast, Chapel Cottage is your perfect holiday base.
Additional Information:
No infant/baby equipment provided but guests can bring their own travel cot/equipment.
One small pet welcome (small additional charge).
The short path to the separate gated garden is rather steep and could be slippery in wet weather.
Please note that internet access is offered at this property for recreational purposes only and is not meant for business use. The speed/service may vary from time to time. Should guests experience difficulties or loss of use, neither the owner nor the Dorset Hideaways will be held responsible.
