Little Meggs, Highcliffe

New Forest. Sleeps up to 2

New for 2023

As featured in Daily Mail's ‘6 Cosiest Cottages’, Little Meggs is a cute pet friendly couple’s bolt-hole in the small seaside town of Highcliffe. Set within attractive gardens within the local Chewton Common conservation area Little Meggs is just a 15 minute stroll to the sea and sandy beach via a woodland footpath, and a short drive or cycle to the New Forest National Park, with its free roaming ponies, donkeys and cattle.

Downstairs, a low beamed comfortable lounge and dining area open onto a handmade old pine galley kitchen with shower leading off. Upstairs, a light and airy double bedroom with window seat overlooking the cottage garden and ensuite WC complete the accommodation. Outside there is an attractive traditional cottage garden to relax in and enjoy morning coffee or drinks and meals al fresco.

The coastal town of Highcliffe has an array of shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants found along the bustling high street. The popular Paddle café is a short walk away, as is the Cliffhanger near the sea front, both dog-friendly and well worth a visit.

Highcliffe beach is popular with surfers and can be reached along a wooded footpath following a stream through Chewton Bunny nature reserve. Once on the beach you can follow the south coastal path leading right around Christchurch Bay and beyond. Highcliffe beach, Friars Cliff beach and Avon beach have all recently been awarded blue flag status and been given a seaside award which means they are among the best beaches in the UK. Enjoy the stunning landscapes of Hengistbury Head, along with the New Forest National Park, Highcliffe Castle and Christchurch which are all just a short drive or cycle away.

Little Meggs can be booked alongside Old School Cottage to accommodate a maximum of six guests.

Please note: The owner’s cottage is situated behind Little Meggs and on occasion may be inhabited.
