There may be opportunities to spot an array of wildlife including hares that hop through the courtyard, foxes, badgers, deer and squirrels in the surrounding fields and woodlands. Red kites are a common sight, and you may be lucky enough to see the ospreys or even golden eagles that are part of a reintroduction project in the region. The beautiful Crofthead Burn runs through the adjacent woodland, tumbling down a series of cascades and mini waterfalls to reach the Moffat Water.
