A stunning detached house, with a beautifully landscaped tiered garden overlooking a picturesque Cotswold valley. The Dormers offers a peaceful retreat in the sought after Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Within 5 minutes you can be walking in miles of woodland, meandering through the Cotswold hills, or soaking up the atmosphere in the arty market town of Stroud.
You'll drive through the beautiful village valley to reach the house. There is space in the drive for 2 cars.
When you enter the house, you'll be on the middle floor, which offers one king size bedroom, one double bedroom and one twin bedroom. There's also a bathroom with a shower.
Upstairs you'll find two further bedrooms with king sized beds, and a bathroom with bath and shower. All bedrooms have comfortable beds and stunning views.
Head downstairs to find the large living area with comfortable sofas and a wood-burning stove, perfect for relaxing after a long day’s exploring. Next to the main living room, there is an additional 'snug' living area with several couches. There is also a dining room, and well equipped kitchen, which has everything you need for long suppers or big breakfasts before a big day out. There is also a bathroom on this floor, complete with a shower, plus a washer and drier.
The outside space is spread across a tiered garden, with a spacious sun terrace, perfect for Summer evenings and al fresco dining (there is a BBQ). Steps lead down to beautiful lawns, ideal for garden games or stretching out in the sunshine. There is also a vegetable garden which guests are welcome to help themselves to when vegetables are ready for harvesting.
There are lots of walks straight from the house through local woods, down to Ruscomble house and many more. In the village, there is a traditional village shop - a great pitstop for a cuppa, as well as the local pub. Nearby Stroud is home to the UK’s oldest farmers market and has evolved over time to offer delicious street food, delicatessen, exquisite pottery, textiles and much more.
Sitting in the valleys of Stroud there are around 100 houses in the quaint village of Ruscombe. We have woodland around us, and a farm below us where you'll see horses roaming across the fields. Even though its only a 10 minute drive from town (where you can buy supplies), once you get into the village, it's very quiet and peaceful.
There are plenty of amazing nearby walks, from a simple 45 minute stroll around the whole village, to a full 3 hour walk to Haresfied Beacon where you can look across the river Severn into Wales. It only takes 10 minutes to get into the woodland, so the kids can run around and play in the forest all day.
Stroud town itself is best known for being eco-friendly. Stroud was one of the first fairtrade towns in the SouthWest, and is the UK's first Bee-Guardian towns. Our farmer's market is wonderful (every Saturday 9am - 2pm) - bustling streets packed full of stores selling all local produce - it's even appeared on several TV shows.
A Short and scenic drive takes you to Woodchester Mansion (20mins), Slimbridge Bird Sanctuary (20mins drive), Painswick Village (20mins), Westonbert Arboretum (30 mins), Cheltenham town (45mins), and the City of Bath (60mins).
Stroud train station is 8 minutes away by taxi.
15 minutes drive to and from Junction 12 or 13 of the M5.
The house is also a leisurely 30 min walk to Stroud Town Center.
