A few steps will take you down to the beautifully isolated Traeth y Ora beach, which means 'gold beach' - and you can see why! This virtually private beach is only accessible on foot. You can spend leisurely days on this wide arc of soft golden sand, keeping an eye out for seals and dolphins passing by. Take a stroll to the opposite direction into Moelfre which is well known for its lifeboat station and is somewhere you can stock up on essentials or jump in the car and head out to visit towns and villages along the Anglesey coastline including Amlwch, Trearrdur Bay, Menai Bridge, Beaumaris and Rhosneigr, where you will find a great selection of independent shops and eateries. Head out for days out to places such as Foel Farm Park, Anglesey Sea Zoo, Pili Palas Butterfly World, National Trust’s Plas Newydd and RSPB South Stack Lighthouse or take a cruise to Puffin Island and see what wildlife you can spot. A little further afield and towns such as Bangor, Caernarfon and Llanberis are well worth visiting.
