From the door there are many scenic strolls and cycles routes to take advantage of, including those up to Farleton Knott and Burton Fell to see the limestone pavements, whilst the nearby medieval Devil’s Bridge in Kirkby Lonsdale is well worth a visit. Also close to Rose Cottage is the Lancaster canal where, in summer months, you can take a relaxing river taxi from Carnforth to Lancaster and back. Venture to the historic market town of Kendal and browse the eclectic mix of independent retailers, cafés, restaurants and high street shops, providing opportunity to sample local produce and even pick up a gift to take back home.
