There is a popular coffee shop nearby, and in the larger town of Buckie you will find all the local amenities you could need for your stay. Visit one of the many fish restaurants and enjoy the fresh catch of the day, or learn about the area at the Fishing Heritage Centre.
Take a trip to the nearby village of Portknockie and marvel at the natural sea arch of Bow Fiddle Rock. Carry on a little further to Cullen and sample the famous Cullen Skink Soup, a warming Scottish dish made of smoked haddock, onions and potatoes.
If you like a round of golf, then you will be spoilt for choice in this area, with several courses very easily accessible. Portessie is also very well placed to enjoy the regions Whisky Distilleries, with many in this area of Moray and Aberdeenshire.
A fun family day put can be had at Spey Bay, 9 miles away, where you can take lovely walks and enjoy a visit to the Scottish Dolphin Centre too. The larger town of Elgin is 18 miles away and has everything from parks to museums, providing something for everyone.
