Centrally located, with a great deal to discover in all directions, guests will be spoilt for choice when it comes to enjoying their holiday at Castle Farm. Standing on the banks of the River Wensum and accessed down a long private drive, these three properties are set adjacent to the owner’s home and family farming enterprise. Castle Farm (ref UKC1630) is a spacious farmhouse, whilst The Huntsman (ref UKC1628) and The Buttery (ref UKC1629) are wings of Castle Farm. Comprising of 550 acres of arable and grassland which is utilised by the noted Pennyspot herd of 40 rare breed White Park cows and their calves, together with the de Morley herd of Lincoln Red cattle. Situated in natural countryside on the edge of a Site of Special Scientific Interest (a conservation designation denoting a protected area), this is the perfect base for discerning guests wishing to escape the stresses and strains of everyday life. There are wonderful walks that start from the doorstep, including the Wensum Way 12 mile footpath that stretches from Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse Museum to Lenwade; linking one end of the Nar Valley Way with Marriott’s Way.
The bustling market town of East Dereham, 4 miles, has a 9-hole golf course, cinema, bowling alley, leisure centre, restaurants and a market on Tuesdays and Fridays. The pretty, Georgian market towns of Holt and Blakeney, with its quay and nature reserve, fabulous eating places, galleries, antiques and shops, are a 30-minute drive. The seaside town of Sheringham, 25 miles, has a swimming pool and is home to the famous ‘Poppy Line’, a heritage railway that runs along the coast to Holt. Sandy beaches are located to the north west, the north and the east, and there is a variety of seaside experiences to be had. Further along the coast, you will find Titchwell Marsh RSPB Reserve, Brancaster Staithe, Burnham Deepdale, trips to see the seals at Morston and Wells-next-the-Sea, with its narrow gauge railway, beautiful quay and quaint mix of artisan and traditional seaside shops and cafés. The seaside town of Cromer is 28 miles, with its famous promenade, pier and sandy beach. For all the fun of the fair, choose Hunstanton, 34 miles, or Great Yarmouth, 40 miles, both of which offer amusements and sandy beaches.
Making time to visit the famous Norfolk Broad’s is a must. At Wroxham, capital of the Norfolk Broads, 24 miles, it is worth hiring a day boat or joining a trip out to see the wildlife and enjoy the scenic views. Visit the historical city of Norwich, 19 miles, with its Norman castle, museums, cobbled streets of Elm Hill, cathedral, theatres, shops and restaurants. Foodies will not be disappointed, with lots of great places to eat out, many of which offer seasonal local produce. Beach 25 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
