Middleham s amenities are on the doorstep, the village's picturesque cobbled streets are home to old traditional pubs, local eateries, a convenience store, fish and chip takeaway, a fine dining restaurant and an abundance of walks and trails. Middleham is famous for its racehorses and several trainers including Mark Johnson are based here. Just a short drive away is Hawes, where guests can visit the Dales Countryside Museum, Jervaulx Abbey, Wensleydale Creamery and Aysgarth Falls and the Forbidden Corner, a four acre garden with a labyrinth of tunnels, follies and other surprises. The nearby walk onto Penhill is a must, so do remember your walking shoes. Just a few miles away is the town of Leyburn with its weekly market and an abundance of shops and eateries. The cottage was built in 1720 using stone from the original North Gate to Middleham Castle and was recently renovated to an exceptional standard with enviable attention to detail throughout. The front entrance porch opens into the beautiful drawing room which has a most imposing inglenook fireplace at its heart housing a multi fuel stove, two south facing windows with period window seats beneath and timber flooring throughout. The intimate dining room, which leads off from the drawing room, has a beautiful French dining room suite and is perfect for those who enjoy long evenings with wonderful food. Steps from the drawing room lead down to the modern fitted kitchen/breakfast room which has two windows affording wonderful views over the gardens and across the dale beyond. The kitchen is well equiped with an electric range style oven and induction hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, wine cooler, Nespresso coffee machine, microwave and Smart TV. The utility area can be found in the integral garage to the side of the cottage which houses two washing machines, a fridge and a tumble dryer. Also on the ground floor is a separate WC. The staircase from the drawing room leads to the split level first floor landing where you find the bathroom to the left with hand held shower over bath and WC. The sumptuous master suite with super king size bed, a Smart TV and a vaulted ceiling, which reveals the beautiful A frame beams and far reaching views to the rear. However, the real focal point of the room is the contemporary free standing bath set atop a platform to one corner. The en suite has a walk in shower with monsoon shower head and WC. There is a further super king size bedroom with a Smart TV, exposed beams and views up to the cobbled square and there is an en suite bathroom with free standing bath, separate shower and WC. The remaining two bedrooms are both generous sized double rooms with Smart TV's and exposed beams to the ceiling and lovely views. The gardens have also been thoughtfully landscaped to create a wonderful space perfect for entertaining with covered hot tub and speakers, dining area, patio heaters, large garden sofas and a cosy summerhouse, the perfect place to gather around with your group and raise a toast to your Yorkshire getaway. Parking is provided in the integral garage with parking for one car and outside for an additional car. There is further parking in the market square (subject to availability).
