Region: The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.
Town: Whitby in North Yorkshire remains one of the regions most popular tourist hotspots, and with good reason. The town is at the mouth of the River Esk, and this old fishing port retains mush character in its winding streets and hidden alleys. There is a picturesque harbour, sandy beach and the famous Whitby Abbey. Close to other seaside destinations such as Scarborough, Staithes and Robin Hood's Bay, Whitby is also ideally placed for heading inland and exploring the beautiful countryside of the North York Moors National Park.
Located in Whitby, this cottage is by the sea. Whitby Museum and Captain Cook Memorial Museum are cultural highlights, and some of the area's landmarks include Whitby Pavilion and Whitby Abbey. Traveling with kids? Consider Museum of Victorian Science, or check out an event or a game at Towbar Express Stadium. Be sure not to miss outdoor adventures like hiking and cycling.
