French doors off the bedroom open out onto private decking with table and chairs to enjoy morning coffee overlooking the lake, and a separate area for outdoor dining.
Inside, attention to detail has been key with a calm design running through the bedroom to the open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area. The bathroom has a walk-in double shower and the most magnificent lake view, roll top bath to soak away all your troubles in.
A 5-minute walk along the farm track leads to Hawton Waters Woodland where guests can explore over 170 acres of private woodland and walks along the River Devon which runs through the farm. Swim the lake or simply spend hours of walking in quiet secluded countryside. The design of the lodge is very important to the owner and has been a core value of theirs to remain environmentally friendly, and as kind to nature as they could be. Hawton waters is very proud to have been recognised as one of the few places in the country which successfully homes long eared owls and therefore are part of the national scheme which places owls’ boxes in secure sites and monitors the breeding progress. The woodland and lake area are home to many roe deer so keep your eyes peeled! The property is in a fantastic location, and you have the benefit of your amenities close-by; venture to Newark Marina and stroll along the River Trent or embark on a guided tour of the historical Newark Castle & Gardens.
History fans will love visiting The National Trust’s Workhouse in Southwell, where you can tour its fascinating grounds and learn of its rich history, be sure to stop at the inn for some lunch, before enjoying an afternoon packed with family-fun at Robin Hood’s Wheelgate Park. You can also visit the Civil War Museum, International Antiques Fairs at Newark Showground, regeneration of Nottingham Castles and its Caves, and The Halls of Justice. Visit the bustling city of Lincoln and admire the artwork in its plethora of galleries, picnic at the gorgeous Arboretum Park, or enjoy live entertainment at the New Theatre Royal.
