Wheddon Cross 1.6 miles. This impeccable holiday home of Travellers Rest is brimming with charm and character, and rests on the edges of Wheddon Cross in the Exmoor National Park, Somerset. Ideal for a large group or family of 10's holiday all year-round, the lovely dwelling is set within easy reach of Exmoor National Park's countryside, whilst also being close to the North Somerset coast. Upon arrival, enjoy the trickling sounds of the adjacent stream and take in the delightful countryside before making your way inside your new home-away-from-home. Climb the stairs to find the marvellous sitting room, with the vaulted ceiling showcasing rustic beams, and the space itself offering ample leather seating surrounding the TV and crackling woodburning stove; a fantastic place for a spot of relaxation! When you're feeling hungry, descend the stairs again to find the characterful kitchen, a space enjoying stone walls and flooring, as well as a great range of appliances to appease any budding chef; the space additionally rests near a washing machine, so you can freshen up your wardrobe whenever you need to. After a tasty dinner has been whipped up, continue to the dining room with seating for the whole group, and settle down to a feast with all your loved ones; why not crack open a bottle of bubbly and make a toast to this lovely escape? As the day winds to a close, choose one of four thoughtfully decorated bedrooms to retire to, with two resting on the ground floor and consisting of a twin and a family room with a double bunk bed and en-suite shower room. Continue upstairs to find two more bedrooms, one of which is a welcoming king-size and the other featuring charming décor and twin beds. Completing the interior of the property is the family bathroom, where the bath entices you to enjoy a well-deserved soak after a day packed with watersports or walking. Make the most of the sunny months by venturing out to the first-floor terrace, where elevated views of the country can be enjoyed during an alfresco meal; another garden can be found nearby and offers a spacious lawn with outdoor seating. Drive a short way to Wheddon Cross, a small village offering access to the friendly Rest & Be Thankfull Inn, where you can enjoy a meal out, as well as access to the local petrol station with a handy convenience store. Travel into the centre of the National Park to discover Exford, where walks along the River Exe, access to the Dunkery & Horner Wood National Nature Reserve and explorations of the remains of Cow Castle can be enjoyed. Spend some time on the coast with a visit to Minehead, home to the beautiful sands of Minehead Beach and the stunning Blenheim Gardens. Further inland lies Dulverton, a small town that features the fascinating Dulverton Heritage Centre, where you can learn of the local history, Exmoor National Park Centre and access to a range of walks, including the River Hike Tarr Steps in the nearby Tarr Steps Woodland Nature Reserve. There is still so much left waiting to be discovered, from the Quantock Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Blackdown Hills AONB offering a plethora of outdoor activities, whilst days out in the towns of Taunton and Wellington can also be enjoyed.
