This pretty, detached, thatched cottage is situated a mile from Minehead, on a tiny lane next to a ford which leads to Bratton. With heather hills and woodland all around, this is a magical place for couples or young families at any time of year. Take the path over a little bridge and step down through the back door into the kitchen, a well equipped space for preparing meals. Another step leads you down into the cosy sitting room with its wood burning stove and dining area. The two bedrooms share a smart bathroom (three steps down to the bathroom) with a bath sitting snugly under the eaves. You will sleep peacefully in the lovely double bedroom with its ancient curved walls and stained glass windows. Equally tranquil is the secluded enclosed garden at the back where you can spot wildlife around the fenced pond and eat alfresco. Walk the surrounding hills of the Vale of Porlock with their views to the sea, and maybe climb to Selworthy Beacon above the pretty National Trust village of Selworthy. For fun seaside traditions, head to Minehead or visit the hilltop castle at Dunster. Alice Cottage is perfectly situated for enjoying the lovely surroundings.
