North Petherton 2.5 miles. Resting on the lower slopes of the Quantock Hills AONB, within a pretty walled garden is this quaint cottage: The Gardens. This spacious holiday accommodation has been designed to offer a base for groups of families and friends to call home as they explore the enchanting landscape of Somerset, surrounded by glorious countryside, great beaches and a number of hidden gems. Enter the quaint cottage and be welcomed in by the contemporary kitchen, which is spacious enough for you all to gather to cook up a storm, bake some sweet treats or open up a bottle of fizz to be enjoyed at the dining table. Fulfilling your culinary needs is the quality range of appliances, comprising an electric oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher, and an oak dining table large enough for everyone to delight in a home-cooked dish. On summer days you can choose to dine either in the private garden, soak up the sun on the spacious patio or enjoy the half-acre of orchard surrounded by cider apple trees and wild grasses. After dinner, look forward to a relaxing evening within the characterful sitting room, with a wonderful wood-burning stove. Light up the fire and allow the room to be filled with a gentle warmth as you turn on the 4K TV, or if you are visiting during the summer months, open up the patio doors and admire the garden from the comfort of your reclining sofa. Head upstairs, where after a long walk upon the Quantock Hills, you can indulge with a soak in the Jacuzzi bath, before retiring for the evening within one of the three elegantly appointed bedrooms. The property plays host to one king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room, where you can look forward to waking up to the views of the garden, whilst the twin bedroom and the single bedroom, as well as the comfortable sitting room sofa bed, ensure a flexible sleeping arrangement. Local amenities within walking distance include Hunstile Organic Farm, which offers delicious stone-baked pizza (book in advance) and local produce for sale, The Tynte, a country pub in the nearby village of Enmore, or if you are looking for adventure, the Black Rock Adventures at Cobbs Cross Farm (book in advance). Head into the nearby town of North Petherton for Somerset's national awardwinning butcher, local shops and takeaways. Alternatively, explore the historic town of Bridgwater, or visit the county town of Taunton for a greater range of shops and an excellent museum. Whilst staying here, look forward to exploring the Quantock Hills, characterised by deep-wooded valleys, open heathland and rich flora and fauna, waiting to be visited on foot or bike. It is easy to see why the great poets of the romantic movement, such as Coleridge and Wordsworth, were inspired by this area. National Trust properties nearby include Fyne Court, Montecute House and Glastonbury Tor, the centerpiece of a town known for its ancient and medieval sites and myths, with the walk up the Tor being a fun challenge for the children. For a great day trip, hop aboard the West Somerset heritage Railway to the Medieval town of Dunster and enjoy the historic castle, or continue onwards to the beach at Minehead. Alternatively, birdwatchers and walkers will enjoy the WWT Steart Marshes, home to a habitat for many seabirds. Families can travel north to the coast for a traditional day out at Weston-Super-Mare, Watchet, Kilve and Porlock or south to visit Sidmouth, Charmouth and Lyme Regis. Alternatively, the National Parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor are fabulous day trips. With a vast range of things to see and do, The Gardens is the perfect retreat for a holiday at any time of the year.
